Microsoft baru-baru ini mengumumkan keterdapatan Windows Phone, di mana Microsoft dengan usahasama pengeluar telefon bimbit terkemuka dunia akan menawarkan lebih 30 telefon Windows baru di 20 negara sebelum penghujung 2009. Telefon terbaru ini (Windows Phone) akan dilengkapi sistem operasi terkini Windows Mobile 6.5 dan beberapa ciri tambahan lain yang memudahkan pengguna menguruskan kerja dan urusan peribadi secara kawalan di hujung jari. Antaranya, pengguna boleh membuat salinan atau Backup semua kontak, foto atau kandungan mobil daripada telefon bimbit ke laman web. Fungsi ini membolehkan kandungan mobil penting pengguna diselamatkan lebih-lebih lagi untuk kejadian tidak terduga. Sekiranya pengguna kehilangan Windows Phone, ciri terbaru ini juga dapat memaksa telefon bimbit berbunyi atau nada dering aktif meskipun ia berada dalam mod senyap. Ianya boleh dilakukan secara jarak jauh.

Windows Phone juga menyediakan akses kepada Windows MarketPlace sebagai salah satu ciri baru yang ditawarkan. Pengguna boleh membeli atau memasang pelbagai aplikasi mobil seperti Facebook, MySpace, Netflix, Twikini, WunderRadio dan Zagat, permainan serta aplikasi bisnes lain terus ke telefon bimbit.

Selain itu, pengguna akan berpuas hati dengan antara muka mudah Windows Phone. Digabungkan bersama skrin sentuh peranti mobil, navigasi menu, melakukan kerja atau mengakses hiburan adalah dengan hanya melayangkan jari pada skrin.

Tidak perlu menunggu 2010 sekali pun, banyak syarikat telah mula memperkenalkan teknologi baru pada rangkaian produk mereka. Teknologi-teknologi ini menjadi penggerak kepada peningkatan, penambahbaikan dan tentunya dijadikan kelebihan sesuatu tawaran produk berbanding yang lain. Nama Kod Quorum
Teknologi sekuriti berasaskan reputasi ini diperkenalkan oleh Norton Symantec menerusi penyelesaian Norton Internet Security 2010 dan Norton AntiVirus 2010. Quorum dikatakan berkemampuan untuk mengesan Malware yang tersembunyi dan boleh menangani ancaman hebat yang mendatang. Ia bukan hanya bertindak sebagai pengesan tetapi boleh memberi amaran, mengatasi ancaman, menyediakan kawalan dan banyak lagi keperluan penting lain.

Aplikasi unik, jarang, lazim, bahaya atau baik yang berjalan pada komputer pengguna mempunyai reputasinya tersendiri. Dengan mengumpul sebanyak data daripada program Pemerhatian Komuniti Norton, data yang diambil akan membantu memberi indikasi kepada sistem Quorum untuk mengira tahap keselamatan sesuatu aplikasi tanpa perlu bertanyakan kepada pengguna terlebih dahulu. Ia akan memberitahu sama ada sesuatu aplikasi itu selamat atau tidak meskipun sebelum pengguna memuat-turun atau menjalankannya. Baru dalam teknologi ini juga adalah sistem antimalware SONAR 2 yang secara pintar mengukur maklumbalas daripada PC untuk membuat keputusan penting. Ia direka untuk mengesan ancaman yang tidak diketahui dengan menggabungkan kepintaran fungsi perlindungan Norton yang lain. Sama ada didorong komunikasi rangkaian, aktiviti program pada sistem atau data reputasi, ia akan mengesan dan memaklumkan pengguna segera. Ringkasnya teknologi ini menjadi 'pendinding' awal sebelum pengguna memasang sesuatu aplikasi dengan membuat keputusan untuk dipertimbangkan oleh pengguna atau terus menyatakan Jangan!

Google vs. Yahoo! Interface Design

As Google and Yahoo! continue their volley of product offerings, I thought it would be useful to compare the interface design solutions each company employed to solve similar user needs. In other words: how does Yahoo’s version of a product (Maps, Local Search, Image Search, etc.) compare to Google’s? Though some product offerings are virtually indistinguishable (Web Search, Image Search), others differ significantly (Groups, Product Search).At a high level, Yahoo! has better integrated business goals with their product designs. For example, their comparison shopping site features multiple entry points that better match consumer shopping behaviors (browse by brand, browse by category, featured products, etc.) than Froogle’s single search box. Yahoo! also has more robust answers to vertical information finding (Travel, Finance, Movies, etc.) than Google’s Web Search features. That doesn’t negate the value of Google’s simple solutions to these tasks. It’s just that a simple solution sometimes requires something in addition to (or other than) a search box.

LONDON (CNN) -- Did President Obama land a Nobel peace prize at such an early stage of his presidency simply because he's not George W. Bush?

A "surprised and humbled" Obama said he would accept the Nobel peace prize as a "call to action."

Diplomatic circles are certainly not dismissing such a notion and a "surprised and humbled" Obama has himself agreed that the award (for which nominations had to be submitted only two weeks after his inauguration) can hardly have been a recognition of anything he has yet accomplished. It is a prize for aspiration rather than achievement.

One of the best deliberate laughs Bush obtained in his last days in office came when he expressed himself pleased at the street reception during his attendance at a NATO summit in Romania.
"A lot of the crowd were waving... some of them with all five fingers," he said.

What is the Internet?

Introduction
The Internet is an international network consisting of individual computers and computer networks that are all interconnected by many paths. First, it must be emphasized that the Internet is indeed international. It is not run by one particular government or commercial agency. Instead, it is a combined effort of every organization that has a computer connected to the Internet. Second, it is a network. A network is simply an organization of several computers that can all communicate with each other. In the case of the Internet, the network consists of thousands of computers.

Finally, each of the computers that make up the Internet network are interconnected by many paths. In other words, if a piece of data sent from Computer A to Computer B doesn’t make it to Computer B using Route 1, Computer A has thousands of “detour” routes that it can take to get the data to Computer B. Each computer on the Internet serves as a “station” that directs data along the various routes on the Internet. Now, that’s obviously an over-simplified definition, but it will do for now.

The History of the Internet;
The Internet was created on January 2, 1969 when United State computer scientists began researching computer networking. This research was funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), which gave the internet its first name, the ARPANET. The ARPANET was used to test the use of packet-switched networks, which are computer networks that transfer information in the form of little packets that move independent of each other through various networks until they reach their final destination. The Department of Defense immediately saw this network as an ideal communications weapon. Despite its military background, the ARPANET eventually became primarily a means of instant communications between computer researchers across the nation.

In 1983, the ARPANET was reserved for civilian use, while MILNET was created for military use. Communication between the two networks was possible, and this network became known as the Internet.

The Internet: Modern Developments
As the Internet grew during the 1980’s, more networks were formed in order to serve various communities and organizations, such as BITNET (Because It’s Time Network) and CSNET (Computer Science Network), among many others. In 1986, the National Science Foundation (NSF) again connected researchers and organizations with the NSFNET, which consisted of five supercomputers systems. It was during this time that many other nations began developing their own versions of the NSFNET. All of these networks are now interconnected to form the significantly more powerful Internet that we know today.

Who Pays for the Internet?
During the early 1990’s, the National Science Foundation paid for most of the Internet. Since then, the Internet has experienced explosive growth, and is no longer used solely by educational institutes and the military. Such dramatic growth has also increased the cost of keeping up the Internet.

Who Owns the Internet?
One of the things that make the Internet so interesting is the fact that it is not really “owned” by anyone. There is no single government or commercial organization running the Internet, and there are no official rules that govern its use. Instead, the Internet is kept up and running by the collective efforts of every organization with computer or network connected to the Internet, each forming a vital part of the Internet infrastructure.

What does the Internet Offer?
The Internet offers different things to each individual. One has to experience the Internet for themselves to determine its value. There are some common things that the Internet does offer the most Internet user do use frequently. Electronic Mail (E-Mail) is a feature of the Internet that allows people to send information to each other instantaneously. Usually, this information is simply a letter. It can also be a picture, an audio file, or an executable binary. E-Mail provides a faster and cheaper alternative to using the Postal Service.

Another service is Usenet. Usenet is a system of approximately six thousand newsgroups that are each dedicated to specific topic of interest. People worldwide can post and read messages to UseNet newsgroups almost instantaneously. UseNet is often filled with valuable information and has many users that are often quite knowledgeable in the subjects they discuss. The Internet can also be used to receive real-time information such as the weather (from NOAA), sports scores, traffic updates, airport conditions, and so on.

The World Wide Web allows the Internet user to explore the Internet with the click of a mouse. Internet users from anywhere in the world can talk in real-time either in group, or one-on-one, with no long distance charges! The Web and Gopher space can be used as monitor of any Internet user within seconds. This is just a sample of what the Internet offers!
